Kuehne + Nagel to manage Beiersdorf's logistics centre in Vienna

KUEHNE + NAGEL have announced that Beiersdorf CEE Holding GmbH has agreed to a partnership with the logistics giant for Kuehne + Nagel to take over its logistics centre in Vienna.

As a result of the move, Kuehne + Nagel will assume management of operations at Beiersdorf's Central and Eastern European logistics centre in Vienna, along with its complete workforce of 59 employees, and the subsequent initiation of structural measures to accommodate further growth in the CEE region, a Kuehne + Nagel statement said.

Dr Ulrich Schmidt, Beiersdorf CEE Holding managing director, said: "In Kuehne + Nagel, we have found a highly capable partner with whom we can meet the growing demands in European competition in an optimum manner and thus implement our concepts for south-eastern Europe in the medium term. Efficiency and flexibility were the predominant factors in our selection of the ideal partner, together with decisive, long-term perspectives for our employees."

From its headquarters in Vienna, Beiersdorf CEE Holding looks after Austria and also administers subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. The company achieved sales of around EUR311 million (US$490.55 million) in 2007. More than 70 per cent of Beiersdorf CEE Holding revenues are now obtained in the CEE region outside Austria.
